How to clear browsing history in Chrome on Android
2 min read · 5 steps · Updated 2 October 2026
Open Chrome, tap the three dots in the top right corner and tap Delete browsing data. Choose a time range, tick what to remove and tap Delete data.
Chrome keeps a list of the pages you visit, along with cookies and cached files. Clearing them can fix a website that will not load properly, free some storage and keep your browsing private on a shared phone.
Menu names below are from Google Pixel phones on a recent Android version. Samsung, Xiaomi and other brands rename some of them, so the Samsung name is given where it differs. The pictures are simplified diagrams of the screen, not screenshots.
Step by step
Open Chrome and tap the three dots
They are in the top right corner, next to the address bar.
Tap Delete browsing data
On older versions, tap History first, then Delete browsing data.
Choose a time range
The menu at the top offers Last 15 minutes, Last hour, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 4 weeks and All time.
Tick what to delete
Tap More options to see the full list. Browsing history is the list of pages. Cookies and site data signs you out of websites. Cached images and files frees storage. Leave Saved passwords unticked.
Tap Delete data
Websites may load a little slower the first time afterwards.
Good to know
If you are signed in to Chrome with sync on, the history is also removed from your other devices.
To browse without saving history, tap the three dots and choose New Incognito tab.
Searches you make while signed in to Google are also kept in your Google Account. Manage them at myactivity.google.com.
In short: Chrome, three dots, Delete browsing data, pick a range, Delete data.
