Reasons to choose the iPhone 18 Pro

  • Cameras. The adjustable aperture and the telephoto lens are both missing on the Duo. If photos matter most, this decides it.
  • Face ID. It unlocks when you look at it, with wet hands or gloves.
  • Price. $800 less buys a lot of storage, a watch or several years of a phone plan.
  • A known design. A one-piece phone has no hinge and no soft inner screen to worry about.

Reasons to choose the iPhone Duo

  • The big screen. Reading, maps, video and two apps side by side are simply better at 7.6 inches.
  • One device instead of two. If you carry a phone and a small tablet, the Duo can replace both.
  • A small phone when closed. The 5.4-inch outer screen is easier to use with one hand than any current Pro.

What nobody knows yet

How the hinge and inner screen hold up over years of daily use, and how the battery behaves in real life. Folding phones from other makers show a visible crease and need more care with dust and pressure. If you plan to keep your phone for four or five years, there is a good case for waiting for long-term reports, or for the second generation.

Our view

For most people the iPhone 18 Pro is the sensible choice: better cameras, a proven design and a much lower price. The Duo is for people who already know they want a folding phone and are comfortable paying for a first-generation product.
